The 20th National ENT Masterclass® took place over two days at the historic Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) in central London. It marked a major milestone – the 20th anniversary of this flagship training course in otolaryngology and head & neck surgery. The Masterclass has evolved over two decades from a small regional course into a major educational platform for ENT surgeons, trainees and specialists.
The event was organised as an intensive, high-value educational meeting with expert lectures, panel discussions and case-based sessions covering the breadth of ENT practice including paediatrics, otology, rhinology, head & neck surgery and related subspecialties.

This two-day event was attended by 140 specialists which included more than 60 specialist registrars. There were delegates from Asia, Africa and Europe. Apart from the trainees, the event was also well attended by ENT consultants. The faculty consisted of eminent ENT surgeons from the UK, China, Europe and Australia. There were a total of 33 Masterclass Lectures and 4 Panel Discussions.
ENT Masterclass® has continued to remain true to its core values of delivering quality free education with volunteer faculty members of national and international standing. The first day began with welcome remarks delivered by the vice-president of the Royal Society of Medicine, Prof Paul O Flynn and course chair Prof Shahed Quraishi.

Talks in the paediatric session covered airway management, ENT manifestations of childhood syndromes, sleep-disordered breathing in children, and management of neck lumps in paediatric patients
The Otology Session included a video presentation on complex otology and skull base surgeries. There were a series of presentations on paediatric cholesteatoma management, balance disorders, surgical planning in cholesteatoma surgery, facial nerve palsy and endoscopic ear surgery. Day one concluded with two in-depth panel discussions on paediatrics and otology.

The second day started with the rhinology session. There were expert talks on olfactory dysfunction management, rhinoplasty techniques and transorbital surgical approaches. Further lectures explored sinus surgery complications, navigation in skull base surgery and nasal valve reconstruction. This session was followed by a rhinology panel session.

The head & neck session started after the lunch break and the topics included updates on laryngo-tracheal surgery, head & neck oncology practice and the role of HPV in malignancy management strategies. There were further presentations on cutting edge topics; robotics in head & neck surgery, biologic endoscopy for malignancy and rehabilitation for dysphagia after treatment. The closing session focused on challenging areas such as unknown primary carcinoma and deep neck space inflammatory lesions. Day two concluded with a challenging yet informative head & neck panel discussion.
To conclude, 20th ENT Masterclass® was a landmark educational gathering delivering excellence, innovation and inspiration across ENT for trainees and consultants alike.
