This meeting aims at promoting widespread access to cochlear implants and other hearing devices in emerging populations.

Cape Town, a meeting point of developing and developed technology is a most appropriate venue, and boasts spectacular scenery, an explosion of coffee bars and superb restaurants, and a world-class convention centre.

The meeting is being hosted by the South African ENT Society, the South African Cochlear Implant Group, and the Global Cochlear Implant Access Network.

This meeting will foster co-operation across the globe – from developed regions such as Europe, America, Australia and Hong Kong, to emerging India, Africa, South America. It will provide an interface for colleagues from both new and established programmes to share visions for the promotion of hearing initiatives.

"Every now and then there is a meeting about cochlear implants that stands out in its potential impact and importance.  This conference on Cochlear Implantation in Emerging Health Care settings is such a conference in my opinion.  I will look forward to learning more than I can teach". – Blake Papsin, MD, MSc, FRCS, FACS, FAAP
