AAFPRS 2019 Advances in Rhinoplasty takes Orlando by storm

Report by Wendy Lewis, President, Wendy Lewis & Co Ltd Global Aesthetics Consultancy.

Paul Nassif, MD from Beverly Hills, USA.

Over 800 rhinoplasty surgeons traveled from all over the world to sunny Orlando, Florida in April for the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPRS) Advances in Rhinoplasty Meeting.

According to Dr Philip Langsdon, President of the AAFPRS, “The AAFPRS 2019 Advances in Rhinoplasty was the largest and most comprehensive meeting on rhinoplasty on record. The AAFPRS is where the world experts gather to share insights and new developments. With over 200 speakers from 45 countries, Advances in Rhinoplasty is the best forum for any rhinoplasty surgeon to maintain their expertise in rhinoplasty. Attendees as well as speakers heard both new developments as well as affirmations of standard trends, covering refinements in major structural corrections, advancements in endonasal and more conservative approaches to rhinoplasty.”

Sessions were well attended by delegates.

The conference attracted a long list of AAFPRS Past Presidents from all over the USA, including Ira Papel, MD, a Professor at The Johns Hopkins University. “What struck me at the meeting was the diversity of speakers from around the world who brought their own brands of innovation. There were many creative solutions to rhinoplasty problems presented, such as structural preservation, efficiency in creating aesthetic changes, and insights into the changing demographics of who is requesting rhinoplasty operations. Much of the core knowledge in rhinoplasty still stands but is being challenged from the periphery. New technology, such as instrumentation, computer simulations, and measuring outcomes adds to the mix. The information was coming from all directions at once,” he explained.

Oren Friedman, MD, of the University of Pennsylvania served as a Director of the meeting this year. “This year's rhinoplasty meeting offered the most comprehensive panels and courses for surgeons and residents to learn how to perfect their techniques, learn about new products and procedures, and get an overview on how to grow their rhinoplasty practices. We were delighted with the excellent reception we had from delegates and faculty. The feedback from the record-breaking number of attendees has been incredibly positive. We could not be happier with the outcome of the meeting and look forward to another excellent conference in 2020," he said.

AAFPRS President-elect Mary Lynn Moran, MD, was very proud of the overwhelming response from the conference which speaks to the importance of quality education on this important topic. “More than 800 attendees came together in Orlando to learn from the most recognised rhinoplasty experts in the world as well as the rising stars in the field. This year's Advances in Rhinoplasty meeting was the most successful meeting we have ever had, and it has emerged as THE Rhinoplasty event that is not to be missed.”
