Preparations are in full swing for the 18th National ENT Nursing Masterclass at Doncaster Royal Infirmary on Friday 21 August 2026. In the spirit of the NHS, this annual Masterclass event is ‘free at the point of delivery’. This remains the only National ENT course for Nurses in UK and is open to nurses from clinics, wards, theatres, community and general practice.
Over the years, it remains quite popular and we have had delegates from all over UK and some from Europe and China. This one-day event is a mixture of state-of-the-art talks by an eminent faculty on clinical and topical ENT nursing issues. After lunch there are workshops with practical on-hands training.
The course curriculum promotes the increasing role of ENT advanced nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists in delivering high quality care in areas which traditionally remained the domain of junior doctors. It is great to see ENT emergency clinics, tracheostomy care, ward rounds etc being managed independently by trained ENT Nursing staff.
This event is an excellent platform for ENT nursing staff to share their clinical practices and is an excellent networking opportunity. Some of the more enterprising delegates, especially head & neck nurses, stay on to attend the free National Tracheostomy Masterclass which is on the following day and is equally popular and useful.
