The Spring RAMI Section of Oto-Rhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Prize Meeting proved to be an exceptional gathering of both current and future leaders in the field. Éadaoin Ó Catháin and Michael Colreavy, as the society secretary and president, both played an integral role in organising the event, ensuring its smooth execution and fostering a welcoming environment for attendees.
Congratulations to Holly Jones who was awarded the Best Clinical Presentation for her paper on ultra-low dose CT scanning in suspected paediatric airway foreign bodies. Karlo Vidovic, a medical student, won the Best Research Presentation for his paper on Anti-PD1 immunotherapy, signalling a bright future ahead in head and neck oncology.
A particular strength of this meeting was the consultant led educational sessions, which covered a broad range of interesting topics. Comprehensive presentations on endoscopic ear surgery and different aspects of rhinology were delivered by experts from across Ireland, providing invaluable insights into the latest techniques and best practices.
We were also fortunate to host esteemed international guest speakers, Mira de Kruijf from the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Prof Arunachalam Iyer of Lanarkshire, whose expertise and perspectives added a global dimension to the event. Their contributions highlighted the importance of international collaboration, and showcased to Irish trainees the quality of work available In their centres for potential training opportunities in the future.
Finally, the meeting was made possible by the generous support of industry sponsors who showcased cutting-edge technological advancements in the field and were on hand throughout the day.
