The British Acoustic Neuroma Association (BANA) will host their Annual Conference this year in Ashover in the Peak District.
After previous conferences at Sheffield (2023) and Addenbrookes, Cambridge (2024), BANA decided to create a more relaxed feel for this year’s event, with a ‘country conference’ weekend in this beautiful area of the UK.
In keeping with the more relaxed tone, there will be less medical presentations from professionals speaking about acoustic neuromas and more of an emphasis on individual member’s experiences. There will also be an audiologist as one of the speakers.
The Conference is aimed at the members to impart information, give support and allow a meeting space to spend time with other members on the same journey. It is always well attended, and BANA is responding to members’ requests for more free time to mingle and meet each other.
BANA (British Acoustic Neuroma Association) is a registered charity providing invaluable information and support to people with Acoustic Neuroma / Vestibular Schwannoma (ANVS) and their support networks. Acoustic Neuromas are brain tumours that are normally benign and account for a small percentage of all brain tumours. Symptoms include single-sided deafness and tinnitus as well as balance issues, and it can lead to facial palsy.
BANA strives to connect, support, share experiences, provide information, improve mental health and support innovative research projects. The charity is governed by a board of trustees with a wide range of expertise, including medicine, business, finance, communications and charitable work. We have Trustees with personal experience of the three main treatment options: surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery and ‘watch and wait’.
Health professionals play a vital role in supporting people affected by ANVS by promoting awareness, referring patients to BANA or getting involved in fundraising activities.
