Katherine Conroy, our history section editor at ENT & Audiology News, represented Great Britain at this year’s World Transplant Games. Athletes from 51 countries participated in multiple sports from 18 - 22 August in Dresden, Germany.



Katherine is an ENT surgeon, currently a locum consultant at Manchester Royal Infirmary, and co-chair of Women in ENT Surgery UK. She won five gold medals in total: for first place in age category in the 5km road race; 400m; 800m; fastest team in 5km; and the 4x400m relay.

The World Transplant Games is held every two years, with the aim to promote organ donation whilst also supporting healthy post-transplant living. The British Transplant Games is an annual event, and will be in Sheffield next year.
