Broadcaster and journalist, Kirsty Gallacher, has joined Tinnitus UK as an ambassador to help raise the profile of tinnitus and the vital work of the charity.

Kirsty has recently been diagnosed with a benign acoustic neuroma, which has caused her to have hearing loss and tinnitus. The symptoms came on suddenly a few years ago and the impact has been life-changing, with stress and sleeping problems.

Since receiving advice and guidance on how to manage the symptoms of tinnitus, Kirsty finds herself more able to cope and wants to ensure that as many people as possible reach out for the support which might help them.

Kirsty is one of the UK’s leading sports broadcasters, with 20 years on Sky Sports News, as well as high-profile presenting roles from the Gladiators to the Olympics. Now she hosts her own show on Gold FM, with commentary on everything from music to current affairs. She is known for her dynamic energy and professional flair. Alex Brooks-Johnson, Tinnitus UK CEO, hopes that Kirsty's story will inspire others to seek help and support from the charity.
“Tinnitus impacts millions of people and can be such an isolating condition," he explains. "It can knock your confidence and make you fearful of noise and even socialising, people need to know they are not alone.”

Tinnitus UK provides information, advice and guidance to people with tinnitus and professionals working to support them.  They also campaign for change and work to highlight the significant impact that tinnitus can have on people and society.
