The Collinson Foundation for Patulous Eustachian Tube (CFPET) is a US-registered nonprofit organisation dedicated to providing hope, support and advocacy for individuals living with Patulous Eustachian Tube (PET) around the world.
There are two events taking place in June. One is the monthly support group meeting, called ‘Echo-Heads Unite!’ This is an open Zoom offering help and support to everyone, regardless of where they live. The topic of conversation for this meeting will be ‘navigating the day-to-day with PET’. There will also be a 'PET with the PROs’ session with Dr Mario Padilla from Waterford University Hospital in Ireland offering support from the medical standpoint. He will be talking about how PET and dizziness interact.
Established as the first organisation in the world dedicated to PET, it is named in memory of Craig Collinson, a vibrant fitness advocate whose life was profoundly altered by this rare and misunderstood ear condition. The Foundation was born from a collective desire to ensure no one else has to suffer without resources or community.
PET is an often-debilitating disorder where the Eustachian tube remains open, causing symptoms that severely impact daily well-being, decreased mental health and quality of life. Autonophy of voice and breath greatly impacts a person's ability to participate in the world around them and leads to isolation and depression. Despite its severity, many patients face a lack of reliable information, a shortage of specialised providers, and a general lack of public awareness. CFPET addresses these gaps by serving as a central hub for patient education, medical guidance and community support.
The organisation’s mission is centred on three core pillars:
- Education and Awareness: Increasing professional understanding of PET to improve diagnosis rates and treatment options.
- Advocacy: Raising voices to encourage medical research and seeking recognition of severe PET as a disability.
- Support: Building a global community where sufferers and their families are heard, believed, and supported.
The CFPET leadership team brings deep personal insight into the cause, combining lived experience with professional backgrounds in law, nonprofit coordination, and health. The Foundation is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between patients and the medical community.
