On 6-9 November 2021 Professor Jean-Michel Triglia welcomed us virtually to Marseille for the biggest biennial European event for paediatric otolaryngologists, ESPO 2021. The scientific programme covered a broad spectrum across the subspecialty and was divided into morning Instructional Courses, Round Tables, Workshops, Free Paper sessions and Keynote Lectures covering all topics in paediatric otolaryngology (audiology, otology, cochlear implants, nose & sinuses, head & neck, airway and general ENT).

The delegates had the opportunity to participate in a large-scale virtual event, replacing the ESPO congress initially planned for 2020 in Marseille, France. The platform enabled the delegates to either navigate between the six parallel sessions of the two-and-a-half-day intensive meeting or exchange ideas and network with others via the meeting hubs while enjoying a glass of wine.

Morning instructional courses were an innovation introduced for the first time at this meeting and involved young physicians in co-operation with experts, giving an interactive view on key topics in paediatric otolaryngology. Free papers, posters and e-film contests were a great motivation for the younger participants and gained momentum throughout the congress until the winners were announced during the Closing Ceremony. Finally, Prof Triglia passed the flag on to Ray Clarke for Liverpool20-23 May 2023, and it was announced that ESPO 2025 will be hosted in Stuttgart3-6 May 2025.

Recordings of all sessions will be available for all registered delegates for the next six months on the congress platform.
