This initiative by the All-Russian Federation of the Specialists in Head and Neck Diseases: the VI International Interdisciplinary Congress on Head and Neck Diseases was held with support of the Ministry of Health, Federal Medical and Biological Agency, Russian Academy of Science, Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations, Russian Foundation for Basic Research.

The Moscow State Medical University, Rome University of Tor Vergata, and Russian National Committee of the International Union on Radio Science (URSI) organised the Congress.

The main goal of the Congress was to develop an interdisciplinary approach for complicated problems in head and neck surgery and oncology, as well as neurosurgery, and to involve the younger generations of specialists in the development of new concepts and technologies in this area.

More than 900 participants from 11 countries participated in 50 Congress sessions. There were the 9 Video Sessions from operation rooms of Burdenko Centre for Neurosurgery and Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute.

Incorporated into the Congress was the IV International Conference on Innovative Concepts and Technologies for Biomedical Applications (ICTBA2018). The problems of translational medicine development, application of radiological methods for the problems of early medicine diagnosis, health monitoring and treatment, including targeted drug delivery problem, as well as the application of mathematical modeling and super-computing for biomedicine problems were discussed.

The Congress confirmed again the significance of the interdisciplinary approach for deep understanding of the actual problems and challenges in biomedicine, for development of new concepts and technologies for early medicine diagnosis and for successful treatment of patients.

It was agreed that the VII International Interdisciplinary Congress on Head and Neck Diseases will be held in Moscow in 2019 on the basis of Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute.

VI Interdisciplinary Congress on Head and Neck Diseases will be held in Moscow on 17-19 May 2018. The experience gained at previous congresses has proved that interdisciplinary approach is the key to successful treatment of patients.
