Head & Neck Endocrine Surgery: A Comprehensive Textbook, Surgical, and Video Atlas is a 500-page textbook covering most aspects of thyroid and parathyroid surgery, edited by Prof David Goldenberg, a head and neck surgical oncologist based in Pennsylvania, USA. It is available in Kindle and hard cover formats. This book has been dedicated in loving memory of his daughter, Ellie Goldenberg.

The book consists of 62 chapters organised into seven sections presented in a very reader-friendly manner. The chapters have been authored by multidisciplinary experts, mostly from the USA. It is quite comprehensive, covering historical perspectives, embryology, anatomy, physiology etc. There are also chapters covering pre- and postoperative management including cutting-edge practices in investigations and medical and surgical management of various thyroid and parathyroid pathologies. There also chapters looking at ethical and medicolegal aspects of thyroid surgery and thyroid cancer survivorship. The last 16 chapters are dedicated to the parathyroid gland covering the basic sciences, workup, medical and surgical management of parathyroid diseases, including parathyroid cancer and revision surgery. The readers are further supported by a generous list of 29 HD videos and 304 illustrations, in addition to highlighting key points, pearls, points to ponder, and annotated bibliographies noting the important references.

This is one of the most comprehensive current textbooks on thyroid and parathyroid surgery and is recommended for otolaryngologists, endocrine surgeons, residents and for departmental libraries. I think the book is appropriately priced for the resources it provides and should be on the annual wish list!
