Matthew Yung and Chris Raine Travelling Scholarship to Iowa

I was the grateful recipient of the 2020 Matthew Yung and Chris Raine scholarship, although due to the Covid pandemic and its aftermath I could not take up the opportunity until June this year. I chose to visit the otology and neurotology department at Iowa University Hospitals, in particular to meet with Bruce Gantz, an early adopter of bony obliteration of the mastoid, himself inspired by the work of Ulf Mercke of Sweden who developed this technique in the 1980s.

3rd APLA Congress and 6th National Conference of Laryngology And Voice Association Of Bangladesh (LVAB)

The 3rd Asia-Pacific Laryngology Association (APLA) Congress took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 2nd to 4th March 2024 with the theme SAVE ( Swallowing, Airway and Vice Evaluation) Lives. The congress welcomed 700 delegates and 40 national and international faculties from across the Asia-Pacific region, comprising leading experts, practitioners, researchers, and students in the field of laryngology.

Global inequality in audiology care

A new study comparing audiological care across different counties found there is a huge disparity across high- and low-income countries. Published in the International Journal of Audiology, the study was entitled ‘Global disparities in hearing care services and infrastructure: findings from a 47-country international provider survey’.
