For May/Jun 2025, we look both forward and back. We celebrate the 100th birthday of Jean-Marc Sterkers, a pioneer of vestibular schwannoma surgery. His son has brought together a selection of contributions from Prof Sterker’s colleagues to commemorate the occasion.
We also look back at the life of a remarkable ENT surgeon, who subsequently became a respected medieval historian - the life and times of Prof Philip Stell, as seen through the eyes of his friend and colleague Prof Pat Bradley.
Elsewhere for May/Jun 2025, we cover the vexed topic of wax removal and, specifically, who should be doing it.
Regular readers will know that we have been running a series of supplements in the last year or two. In our forthcoming July / August edition, Ajith George will be our editor for a supplement focusing on topical head and neck issues. For our industry colleagues interested in advertising in this supplement, please get in touch with Rosaleen at Rosaleen@pinpoint-scotland.com or Rhian at Rhian@pinpoint-scotland.com.
As ever, the ENT&A team are out and about at meetings and conferences: by the time you read this, I will have been at the ELS Congress in Warsaw, Rhian and Francesca will have been at ESPO in Stuttgart, and Rosaleen and Nova will be looking forward to attending the ERS meeting in Budapest in June. We have recently been at April’s AAA Conference in New Orleans.
Returning to the topic of ‘looking back’, we recently published an article paying tribute to our dear colleague, Vikki Possamai, who died so tragically young just a few months ago. As readers will know, Vikki was our paediatric speciality editor, and will be sorely missed. We are very grateful to Kate Blackmore, who has agreed to continue her role here at the magazine.
