Intraoperative visual documentation is a useful addition for personal archiving and for research purposes. Many commercially available systems are available for video and or photo documentations but these often require costly equipment. Smart phones would make ideal recording devices. However, their shortcomings are that someone would have to hold the phone at a good recording angle. These non-sterile individuals would often find the surgeon(s) getting in the way and the quality of the footage would be compromised. What these authors suggest is using a vacuum car mount and attaching it to the operative lights. A sterile handle attached to the lights will be able to help control the handle of the camera. A remote Bluetooth device held by one of the theatre staff can then be used to record videos or take pictures. This simple solution will also provide back-up of the footage to be saved in a cloud system.
