Ok so the phrase is about bravery – however, this paper considers the differences in auditory cortex connectivity, cognition and emotion between humans and mice. The study began with 21 mice, but usable data were obtained from only 16. Notably, these mice were male – a point that is probably arbitrary – but the comparative human cohort included both sexes: 19 males and 16 females, with participants up to 59 years of age. This is a clearly written, well-described small-scale study. Luckily, the results show a higher level of functional lateralisation in humans. Always good to read that there might be at least a little divergence between us and mice.
