This paper aimed to assess the facial recognition capability of a commercially available software program in patients who’d undergone orthognathic surgery. It is a retrospective study of 24 patients, 12 class II and 12 class III dentofacial deformities. The preop and postop images were assessed and there was no significant difference in neutral facial expression between the 2 groups. However, in smiling facial expression there was a significant difference for class III patients but not for class II. The patients in the study were selected despite defined inclusion and exclusion criteria and the results are dependent on the specific software used.
