Tumour invasion into the lingual nerve was detected in 40% of cases, and into the submandibular duct in 28% of cases. Regional lymph node involvement will alter levels Ib and IIa,. They advocate that high-grade tumours or adenoid cystic carcinomas submandibular gland resection along with aforementioned lymph node levels. There is no mention to the consideration of whether bilateral neck dissection be considered.
